COVID-19 Vaccination to Over 70s

DCHC Vaccination Rollout for over 70s

DCHC is prepared to deliver COVID 19 vaccines to its over 70s population according to HSE guidelines. Our 1st scheduled deliver is expected on 18th February 2021; therefore, we hope to begin on the 19th of February with the over 85 age group.

Click here for the vaccination schedule

The program will be by Appointment only. A walk-in patient cannot be accommodated

Age groups ONLY will determine vaccines’ administration, in the order;

  1. Over 85s,
  2. 80-84,
  3. 75-79 and
  4. 70-74.

Clinics will be held every 2nd Friday to coincide with our delivery schedule. Vaccines cannot be given outside of these patients groups, e.g. relatives and patient in other vulnerable risk groups.

We cannot administer this vaccine to housebound patients, and the HSE will make alternative arrangements

Vaccines supplied will be either Pfizer or Moderna. Our specific allocation is yet to be confirmed, but you will be guaranteed to receive the same vaccine for your 1st and 2nd dose.

2nd doses will be given four weeks after the 1st dose

Patient groups will be contacted from 10 days before their scheduled clinic and offered an appointment on Friday or the weekend rollover clinic on Saturday or Sunday.

If you are unable to attend due to illness, we will offer you an appointment at the clinic 2 weeks later

Due to the logistical challenges for delivering the vaccine, we have limited time to use the vaccines once delivered; therefore, we ask patients to be flexible when offered their appointment time.

Patients will be required to consent to the vaccine before administration.

Once given, patients will need to remain in the surgery for 15 minutes.

We will have a small contingency list for ‘short notice’ call ups on the day. If you wish to be included on this list, please let us know when we call you for booking.

VACCINES CAN ONLY BE ADMINISTERED FROM DELVIN HEALTH CENTRE

What should you do now?

YOU DO NOT NEED TO CALL THE SURGERY to book an appointment. We will call you.

If you wish to advise us / update us of your contact details, please email us your details to info@dchc.ie or ask a family member to help you with this. You should include your PPS number, GMS card number, Date of birth and a contact mobile number

If we have not called you up to 3 days before your scheduled day (see below), you should call the surgery to identify yourself as eligible. We will publish a specific date schedule once we have a guarantee of our vaccine delivery

Please read the information about the vaccines and ask any questions you have when we call you to make your appointment

  • Please wear loose short sleeve tops, so that we can access your shoulder to give the vaccine
  • Upper body clothing should be easily removable and kept to a minimum
  • Your appointment is for vaccination only, and we cannot deal with any other issues at the appointment
  • On vaccination Fridays, routine surgery will be run in Clonmellon Health Centre as usual.
