Medical Services

Acute Appointments

Appointments can be made with any Doctor in the event of illness. Doctors are also available for a range of healthcare advice and addressing concerns patients may have.

Warfarin Bloods

Warfarin test can be done any morning between 0900 and 1200. It is important to make an appointment for this clinic at least 3 days in advance, with any of the nurses. Results are usually available after 1730 and dose adjustments will be advised at the same time along with when you next test should be. There is a charge for this service at the surgery. You can avail of a free service at Mullingar hospital. Please ask for details at reception.

Diabetic and Heartwatch Clinics

Diabetic and Heartwatch patients are seen from Wednesday to Friday by appointment.

Appointments can be made with PN Anne Mckenna who oversees the service

Maternity Services

Maternity care entitles mothers to 6 antenatal and 2 post natal visits free of charge. All doctors can see expectant mothers and answer any questions as well a provide antenatal care

Childhood Immunisations

Childhood immunisations are given at the surgery from the age of 2 months to 6 years old. (Except BCG). Immunisations can be arranged with our nurses every morning from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

All new babies born to mothers at Coole Surgery should be contacted by us and advised when their baby is due their first vaccination.

Influenza & Pneumonia Vaccinations

All patients over the age of 65 and patients with Diabetes, Cardiac, Renal, Liver or Lung disease need yearly flu vaccination. Clinics start in early September and generally run for 3 months. Vaccination against pneumonia is only given once. (Private Flu vaccinations can be administered for a fixed price).

Family Planning and Contraception

All doctors working in the surgery are able to provide contraceptive advice. This will include advice on the various types, and suitability.

In addition we are able to insert the Implanon contraceptive implant (lasts 3 years), the Mirena Intra Uterine System (lasts 5 years) and the Copper Intra Uterine Device. (By appointment only).
